Mountain Gardens is a botanical garden of useful plants featuring the largest collection of native Appalachian and Chinese medicinal herbs in the Eastern US, organically grown at the foot of the Black Mountains in Western North Carolina. Our specialties include: native and oriental medicinal herbs, wild foods, perennial vegetables, craft plants and other ethnobotanicals. We offer for sale seeds, plants, fresh and dried herb material, and other preparations. We present useful information regarding the cultivation and uses of these species, as well as our philosophy of Paradise Gardening.

Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
Considered endangered or threatened in many states, Chamaelirium luteum or ‘Fairy Wand/False Unicorn Root’ has become somewhat mythical to the modern herbalist. As cultivation can be difficult, it is rarely commercially grown and therefore almost impossible to find on the market. It offers a unique opportunity for exploration and experimentation. Here is the link Joe mentions as worthwhile rese...

Had a shot of absenth in 2001 while in Germany. Definitly felt different while drinking that night. Nothing crazy, only had one shot, but definitely felt different. Didn't know anything about it. Seems like we put sugar in, lit it on fire for a few seconds, blew it out and then shot it back. I think I remember a spoon with sugar. I don't know. Can't remember exact details. I think it had something to do with the toxins. Not sure if it did anything. They got it from Czech. I'm currently growing Artemisia absinthium for its medicinal benefits.
Yes sir , they don't come up every year sometimes they skip a year
Rhodiola seed
😢🙏🏼
RIP Joe. What a gift to humanity 🙏🏾
M in South Africa. I really want some of that. I orderd some from an American company. Cost a lot of money. It never reached me.
Never ever plant it in your garden. You will never get rid of it. Biggest gardening mistake I made in my life.
Here from FB. Great video.
RIP
I'm over 70 and started having prostate problems over 3 years ago. At times I've been getting up 8 times with very bad sleep. I went to the doctor and he prescribed Tamsulosin hydrochloride which is cheap but thank god I read the fine print since I was scheduled for cataract surgery and my ophthalmologist told me to get off it as it can affect the healing process. So I was on it for about 6 days. Cataract surgery went well two months later. Then in early spring I began the prescribed medication. Did nothing! Couldn't sleep and since the prostate problems began that has more or less been the case. In late Spring I was in Hungary with my wife and she went to a dispensary in her hometown (Miskolc) where she was born and bought hoary willowherb tea for $5 and over a month's supply (!) from a shop which specializes in herbs for healing. The guy who originally opened the shop lived to over 100 and was never seriously ill. His daughter carries on the tradition. Believe me I am very sceptical of claims but within a few days I started to sleep well and only got up once. I'm also dreaming which I really haven't done that much over those past 3 years. Since then I have had a sense of well being which I can't really describe ... but I am truly astonished at the results. Don't think my doctor would believe me! One level tablespoon per cup and I sip only one cup during the day ... and mostly at night before bedtime as the problem was always at night and not during the day. I have zero urinary pain.
how can I germinate stratify those seeds ? What is the best method ??
Not as good as real raspberries. But still quite nice.
Thank you for the knowledge shared. What a gift to the world. May you have a long, healthy and happy life. Ayubowan! (my Sri Lankan greeting meaning 'may you have a long life"

Hops has Estrogenic effects. Does this mean men should not take it's extract for insomnia, every day?
Edible, Medicinal & Ornamental. Brilliant.
If you haven’t been able to find jiaogulan that isn’t bitter, try ordering from Holy Mountain Tea company. That’s where I first saw and tried it, and I haven’t found a better one.

So beautiful
I now realize why I'm single because the man of my dreams has passed away, but as a single older woman,I've been trying to do this life style ,seen a video where he said" I wouldn't have been able to do this if I had a 9-5 job" so true.. but I'm working on quitting so I can devote all of my energy to living a much cleaner and self sustainable life like I believe God intended. May he rest in peace.
I understand creeping bellflower has some edible and medicinal value, but NIMBY!!! It is the most evil and difficult to remove of all the undesirable invasives that can take over your garden. Nothing else grows in their presence, they do not play well with other plants. Those taproots can go 1' deep and must be found and removed to eliminate this most perisitant pest. I am finally winning the battle removing them from the row of raspberries and a couple other spots. It is a listed invasive in the State of Wisconsin, a real nuisance here along the lines of garlic mustard and purple loosestrife.
What should we amend the soil with?
can this plant grow 6 feet tall and 10 feet wide? trying to figure out the massive plant in my yard.
Where can I get it to buy
It’s amazing how his voice is so clear and strong. God bless you Sr!
Very informative, I salute you my friend for the free teaching
So magical
I have 2 dahuricas, each in their second year and each are 8 feet tall as of today and starting to bloom. They are very impressive plants.
I love your philosophy of living with the land and community living but when it comes to God Jesus is the only way to the one and only God! I pray that you seek Jesus and forgiveness and give your life to God before its to late. You seem to be a very knowledgeable man and I hope the best for the rest of your life. ❤
Brilliant

wish this dude was my grandpa
I just descovered this in a patch on my land. My 3yr old grandaughter was eating the flower as fast as we could pick. 😂😂Making a salve with it and other cold sore fighters, and putting in all my healing salves for gift giving
The flowers look so tiny. I wonder if a hybrid can be made with C. thomsoniae so we get a plant that's fragrant and have long-lasting flowers.
This is lovely, it speaks to my soul ❤ What happened to the camera though as he pointed around the gardens?
Thank you🌿
